So this is the last thread that I will do before I buy a new DAILY DRIVER. Above are some cars that I have been thinking about and a little synopsis as to why I'd like the car. So vote and let me know. And, Ben... I'm not going to get an Alltrac so don't even try. The only AWD car in consideration is a Evo...

Chevy Truck
Would be more useful to have a truck instead of another car that you will just mod the shit out of.
It would be nice to get people around, and you could also haul whatever you needed too.
Then you can buy this

+200lb/ft for $400

Real men drive Ford. Toby Keith said so.
I voted for the ford diesel. My buddy just bought one that is pretty friggin old with 130k miles. I've borrowed it a few times to haul crap and it runs STRONG. Ford trucks have a good rep. I'd probably take a dodge diesel above all though.
In short, buy the truck and keep it forever. Then you can get a trailer and have a backyard/garage full of race cars that don't need to be titled/insured!

I've heard good and bad about the Duramax... Ryan Woon (owner of WOTM.com) Has had a duramax that had gone through 3 or so engines.
AND, My brother inlaw is getting a brand new Excursion from Ford, His has been giving him some problems for the last year... but he is thinking of selling it as soon as he gets it... it's a Limited, and will have between 7-20 miles on it. I told him to let me know if he really wants to sell it... so who knows.

Wha? you were posting the poll while doin donuts? no wonder it busted....
but in all seriousness, what did you do?
pickinicholas
12-14-2005, 07:51 AM
Apparently If you don't have the right oil pan, when you do doughnuts the oil doesn't have enough gravity to drop back in the pan, so in turn it stays in the head and drys up the bottom end. Bang there goes your bottom end and possibly your heads.
Good news is that if it is blown it will be rebuilt and will have a new kit to possibly go on it while it's getting put back together (AKA Compound charged goodness) and mayby a oil pan that won't do that again, cause those doughnuts were WICKED AWESOME!!!
PS I went through my new hankooks and now have steel belts on the rear tires. They were almost brand new! Effing A cotton EFFING A. I didn't know that doughnuts wasted your tires THAT fast.

PPS: I have video footage I will edit and post... The last part includes sparks from the steel belts

Worth it? Did you even have to ask that question... OF COURSE IT WASN'T WORTH IT! Maybe you didn't grasp the cost involved with something I didn't know would happen... I have a $7k motor in my car... But since it happened you learn and move on.

i voted evo, and i can't figure out why i'm the only sane vote thus far. my confidence in democracy continues to wane.
after actually reading through the thread though, i'd like to change my vote to
Fox Body Mustang with an upgraded oil pan or a dry sump system

My vote's for the Supra, with the Evo being a very close second :)

The WRX is still going to be reincarnated, because it is getting rebuilt and I'm trying to convince Robert into building me a compound charged kit while it's getting the treatment.

I voted F250. It's handy to have a truck around. But, we must be honest with ourselves and understand whatever Nick gets, it won't be stock for long and there really isn't much more fun to be had than going out and leaving Hondas and Nissans in a cloud of diesel smoke. It's really not that hard to make over 700 ft lbs but if you want to get crazy, think about an older (pre-98.5) Dodge with the 12 valve Cummins. There is a twin turbo kit out there that should easily make over 1000 ft lbs. Now, the bad, put 3 grand in a savings account and wait for the tranny to blow, when it does, remove the 3 grand and hand it to a tranny shop. It's really just a question of when will the tranny go, not if, even in a stock truck. Except for the Duramax, it's got a good tranny but the motor isn't the best to start with. Also, if you do get a Ford, don't get the 6.9 diesel, many, many injector problems, the older 7.3 is a better motor.

What about a Toyota Tacoma, they make a 4x4 6-speed, has a limited slip diff and blisteins, 6500 lbs. towing capacity and best of all, a hoodscoop! 8)
OR
The Nissan Nismo Frontier! Same as above only about $3k less(MSRP), no hoodscoop, and 200 lbs less towing cap.
Philthy
12-16-2005, 06:41 PM
But if he's going to use it to tow, the Tacoma/Frontiers are a little small, sure they"ll pull 6500 lbs, but they sure don't make it turn or stop as well as a full size. I think he decided on a 92 Geo Metro Convertible. That's where it's at.
