yes we can....lets first figure out some club guidelines. like, what do people have to do exaclty to become members? do we want to go down the team v path we setup? i mean, no mandatory meetings and ish like that. what say we?

We say.... There HAS to be active involvement. In one way or another. While it doesn't matter if everyone shows up for one event or another, it's really important that they are active. Mandatory meetinings are a must, I'm sorry to say.
But if you have someone that is at every single autoX, but misses the shows, that's fine IMO. If someone misses every car event, but shows up at applebees, I don;t think that is acceptable. I't a car club.
There have to be rules, and they have to be held up. It's what makes everything work...

ok, so i'll set up something similiar to what i did with team v. so maybe have a rule like: must attend "x" meetings a year, "x" events a year(autox, drag, show, cruises). as far as becoming an official member? attend an event and your in? and maintain membership by adhering to above?

Yes. except, uphold the rules. Fuck those who aren't that interested. Sure, sure, ther are viable excuses, and those are ok, but c'mon, day after day? sheesh! It's usually pretty obvious who are actually in to everything.

Well that doesn't work for me, because I only street race, and never take my car to a track, and besides... I don't have a schedule that would warrant my ability to "hang out" anyways... Not that I really want to get back into the "car club" thing again. It was always bs, and the same shit happened no matter how well-intentioned it was.

we're not talking about "hanging out", just the opposite of that....just car related stuff. why are people so afraid to take their modded cars to the track :? i didnt put $ into my cars so i could go embarass the whordes of civics on the streets...

also, we're not talking about you "must" attend or enter a track event.....cruises count, a mod day perhaps. or just making it out to some track event to watch for a bit would be considered participation.

Right, the whole reason Erin and I wanted to get this going was to do car stuff...
We haven't even defined the number of events needed, but I am sure everyone can spare a few weekend mornings a year to come and break stuff at Erin's.
It's nice for everyone to have that support structure available.
By surrounding yourself with car-nuts, you can be almost positive you will have someone around to help fix whatever problem you have.

The problems that I have can not be fixed by you guys.
I say that active participation is a must, something like 1 event per month maybe. We just don't need the kind of people who will hang around for free beer. I was a laim ass in team V. I did work a lot but I am sure that I could have made more time.
This time around, it's a priority for me. I think the we need people with this type of mentality.
Oh yeah, and no V6 Mustangs!!!!

even if it has naaaaaawzz and a gtr badge :?
but yeah, your right....im not even looking for one event per month! summer is coming, its f ing hot, hard to do alot but still. just show up to turn a wrench, or a cruise or something...just watch some members at autox for a bit! anything to show you want involvement really.....i dont want to make it too strict, its about cars and having fun with them. its not about talking about them and never participating. its not that hard really. :)

I think that we should meet at applebees at least 2 times per week.
why not have only a single requirement
if you suck, you aren't in
if you don't suck, then you are with us
maybe leave it that vague?

You will be judged on your suckyness by a jury of your peers.

ok here's my .02
it should be FUN!
to me, mandatory this and that is not fun!
I do not have a problem with bustin my knuckles on some bolt, or even breaking a few bolts... I like picking someone else's brain cells (or cell) on things I havent done or sharing info that I may have. I appreciate the help Kev gave me changing my struts/shocks out on my car. And I'll help someone out if I can. I cant make it to alot of things right now (friggin house) I am at work from 6:15am to 5pm sometimes 6pm, I dont do lunch's, I dont have anyone to help me with the domestic crap so I have a tendency to get tired from time to time (thats the old guy kickin in) I am not bitchin, just tryin to let you guys know were I am at. I miss auto x and there is a lot that you guys can teach me... (proper angle to hold a beer can :D) etc, and I might even be able to help some of you out :? (correct position for barfing  :D ) are we having fun yet??

yay!!!!!! hows that? i agree, above all FUN! obviously people have diff schedules etc. but i think making an event or two a year is doable? and showing a genuine interest in the cars and offering help/advice. obviously, someone that joins up here and does nothing but post silly crap of no value and never meets any of us, wouldnt be kept around.

I'm down with whatever! I like turning wrenches if I can reah in the places that need the turning... (huge hands) and as soon as my house is renovated we can even turn wrenches at my house too... It'll be more incentive to get cool tools.
