Been lurking around the forum for quite some time, and I've talked to a handful of you guys at PIR/track events back when I had my WRX. Sold the Subie a few months back, though, and picked up a new daily. I've had it on track once so far, and am loving the RWD and the steering feel of this thing. Could use a bit of torque, though, but you knew that.

Some pics from the day I bought it. Couple parts added since then, but nothing major:

And here's the project in the making. Picked it up with my brother for 1500, on the road for under 2K, including new windshield, fender, hood and radiator. Miata parts for cheap!! Going to be stripping it down and doing some body work when the weather cools a bit.

So, I've gone from a do-it-all four-door to a pair of two seat convertibles. The lack of cargo capacity sucks at times, but at least I'm never asked to be DD!

Hope to see you guys back out on track in September/November.

love the newer s2k's. good choice! i wish i could get away with a 2 seater, though i'd probably have a z, but the s2k would be the other choice. Also, there are just too many miatas here now!

JO - close! The Miata is a 91 - only tip off I know if is that it doesn't have a Mazda emblem on the front bumper and the later cars do.

Wgn - it was between the S and the Z, honestly. I drove both, and the S's steering won me over, plus the Z felt heavy. Coming from the WRX, I knew neither would give me as much easy power from bolt-ons, so I went with the Honda. I love the look of the Z's though, especially with the super low offset Nismo wheels.

Figure it's time for an update. I took these pics of the S to post in Auto Trader, as it's time for a cheap track project. Hope to be on track in an E30 325i for less than 5K, so the S has to go. It will be missed, but the Miata will stick around for the time being.

Didn't do anything too drastic with the car - powdercoated the stock wheels, KN intake, lowered it an inch, etc. It was a great car, but I'm ready for something else. It will be older cheapo cars for now - holding out for the rumored 2008 WRX/STi hatch.

I have it in the paper for 26,800. I'd sell it to somebody from a forum for significantly less though, as I know it would be going to a good home. It's a Honda CPO car, so the factory warranty has been extended to 48K miles bumper-to-bumper and 100K miles powertrain. It's a Honda warranty, not the aftermarket HondaCare you can tack on to a new car at the dealership.

Other than that, basic mods: KN FIPK, Eibach springs, hardwired i-Pod connection (works with dash audio buttons), PC wheels w/ new tires, 3M ClearBra, OEM lip, Voodoo shift knob, etc. Also have a set of AP1 wheels and Porterfield R4 pads in the garage.

The powdercoated wheels rock - I wanted to do something other than the half machined/half painted stock look, but the offsets are so wacky on this car it's hard to find a decently cheap aftermarket wheel (though that's changing).

The car's a new set of wheels and sticky tires away from being a track star, or can be a fun DD/fun car in its current form, but I can't afford to pay for the car AND track time/consumables, so it has to go. Title's in hand.

The E30 will be a fun experiment. The WRX taught me that I have way more fun buying a decent car and making it good than buying a pre-made good car. Also, I can do full suspension, bushings, brakes, shifter, and a budget wheel/tire setup for less than a good set of coilovers for the S2000, so it's easy on the wallet.

AP Racing has a cool set of wheels... or something like that.

for the E30 or the S2000? I know AP makes brakes/clutches, but haven't heard of their wheels.

I'm thinking the E30 will get the older model Kosei K1s. I love the way those wheels look on the E30 body style.
