I never updated the One Lap thread......but rich showed me some good in-car vid of his big crash! Anyways, after hitting the wall and doing some good damage dropping them to 66th place...they came back to finish 15th i believe overall! and 3rd i think, in class. not bad at all! if rich didnt crash he would have won his class and easily been top 10 or better. I think that says alot for their tuning/car setup abilities!
Rich is currently in Cali competing with the same sti(his daily driver) in the Sport Compact Car "Ultimate Street Car Challenge". Im expecting that car to do real well! So, hurray for a great local shop showing their stuff!

I've been wanting to visit Dynocomp for a long time. They've got a pretty good rep.
Sounds like their driving is pretty good too ;)

just talked to rich today, he just returned from the challenge and he wouldnt give me specifics but he said he was very very pleased with the results..from what the tires, or whats left of them look like, i'd say that car was tortured! he did run 11.5 in the 1/4 with 1.6 60'
Unfortunately i saw him because my rear caliper broke  yep, the top broke loose and the piston over extended which leaked fluid and caused me to have no brakes!!!! yay! thank god for ebrakes!! got the car towed to dyncomp(rich stayed himself after hours to make sure i got there) and they'll fix it and find out what the heck happened! :?:

Rich is a great guy... They helped me out when I was having a bit of a tuffle with Kingpin for tuning.

im gonna be bringing rich my 240 for a custom alignment, then im doing camber plates/bolts in the wrx for him to do. they do all alignments by hand like the f1 guys.

I had him do mine. (also because he wouldn't install my suspension without doing it.) But I love it. haven't had any issues, and perfect tire wear.

What does their alignment typicaly run?

I think a 4 wheel alignment is around $125, but I'd have to find my receipt.

Not too shabby. eusa_think.gif

yeah its quite a bit more than going to a regular align shop..but none of this is done by machine! all hand, everything measured..same method F1 teams use. you'll get a much more accurate alignment. i wish i knew he did alignments long ago, cause i've had network do my wrx 3 times before they got close to what i wanted.

wgnths
06-06-2005, 10:07 AM
not sure, i just talked to rich so their workin on the brake situation and im having them install an aps cai in place of the perrin short ram..he'll call me later today.

brakes are great and the cai made a noticeable difference over the short ram! eliminated the annoying slight hesitation i was having at low throttle and between shifts...car pulls better, is louder  and the bov sounds nicer. :)

Anyone know what DynoComp charges for dyno time, and I guess for labor as well. I just picked up a set of cams and a new intake manifold, and definitely need some dyno work done, but possibly might just let him install it because I am lazy. If I remember right last time I was there is was $110 for an hour or $110 for a half hour....I don't remember.

AWD or 2WD? it's 215 per hour AWD, and 110 per hour 2WD.

for your tibby? yeah its a little pricey but i dont think theres a better dyno for tuning than a dynamics.

I just went ahead and installed the cams myself this weekend, but I still need to get retuned. They did my first tune when I got my SAFC2 a while back, so I will probably go back to Rich so I can do a before and after with the cams. I think they are havign a dyno day this weekend for the bimmer guys, so I might just show up and get like 3 runs for $45, then wait to get my full tune until I get my new intake manifold and cam gears.
As for the cams, I had Crower grind me a custom set based off the general specs I sent them. Let me just say I am very impressed with the power gains. My car pulls very hard from 4500 to redline. I think they definitely put me around 210-215 whp (which is not bad considering stock a tib only puts out 140 whp). I really wish my rev limiter was pushed back an extra 800-1000 rpms because it feels like I am shifting while my power band is still building. But still, for an all motor buildup, I am very pleased.
Hey Brian, I saw your new rims the other day out at RM. Those things are hot. Maybe they aren't new, but I hadn't noticed them before.

yeah he bought them from me! real nice wheels...you can wait until we set up a dyno day for next month and join us if you want! i know all about the tibby, many of us here were spec v owners and they are very similiar(same tranny even!).

Thanks man. They are new to me :)
Are you going to be at RM much longer? Aren't you just doing some consultant work?

I will probably be out there off and on for another month or so. I am an IT auditor for a Big 4 accounting firm. We are just out there looking at the application controls within the different systems out there, and also testing some other controls relating to the SW Fire Billing Center.
Yeah I almost got a SpecV before I got the Tib (had a 200sx before that), but once I saw/drove the Tib, I had to get it. Before I test drove it I thought of Hyundai's as shitty cars, but I was very impressed with the quality. As for the tranny, you would think more people would be swapping in the SpecV LSDs, but nobody is quite willing to tear it apart to figure out what modifications have to be done to get it to fit. I myself went with a phantom-grip type unit. Should be installing it over 4th of July with my new clutch and flywheel.
I will definitely be down if you guys put together a dyno day. I know we did one through Rich, and he actually was doing 3 pulls for 45, or 30 minutes of tuning for 75. If you guys throw a dyno day, I am sure I can get a few guys to come out with me. I have another guy who i am getting a set of custom cams for, and I am sure he will be down to see his numbers after those are installed.

yeah i wondered if people were trying the lsd swap..i'll talk to rich probably today to see if some of my stuff is in, and i'll find out when he's available next month for us to set up something.
i think the tibby is a much better looking car then the spec, but i loved the specs rawness, lighter weight and handling a bit more. and i liked the t3/t4 under my hood :D well, at least when it ran decent.

Man, i must say im amazed at how awesome the car handles with a professional alignment!!! Rich did an awesome job, all by hand and the car truly has the neg camber i wanted. we did camber bolts in the rear to give it a little more than stock would allow. turn in is so much quicker and the frontend really bites into the corners!
He also got my new tires on, only charged me $15 to mount balance all four! installed my frt sway bar(after some measurements to make sure the car wouldnt push too much)!! And he got me hubcentric rings for my volks(they are a very odd size) and centercaps! once again, very happy with dyno-comp! :D
