View Full Version : Muffler shop?

Anybody know a good (read: super cheap) muffler shop in the east valley? Here's the story:

Exhaust that was on the car when I got it is one piece all the way down from the DP except for one slip joint. That joint requires about 2 1/2" of play that just ain't there. Mox is thinking they assembled everything on-car, then welded it together. This presents a problem, as I have a front swaybar sitting in his garage that I'd really prefer to have sitting on my alltrac :)

So, we figure the best option at this point is to have a muffler shop cut the slip joint, and weld on a flange. I'm also pretty sure that's not gonna be a cheap proposition. While I've got someone monkeying around under there, my 2nd cat has a small leak in the weld, and one of the hanger arms on my muffler fell off (leaving a hole in the muffler and the exhaust lying on my rear crossmember. Feeling your head vibrate from the inside from about 2200-3500RPM is teh suck). So, I'm looking for an extremely cost effective way to get this taken care of, cheap shops, or even friends or friends of friends, as long as they know what they're doing and won't a) break my car or b) rape my wallet.

Any advice?

If you have the flanges, know where you want to section your exhaust, weld the flange, etc, let me know.

I have a friend who is doing automotive side-work like this while he is between jobs. PM me your cell # and I can have him call you.

He's in the NW valley

hmmm... I know where I want to section the exhaust and put the flanges on, but I don't have them. Any idea where I might be able to find flanges for a 2 1/2" exhaust? This whole area's fairly foreign to me :) and thanks for the tip!

pro dyno would be a good place to go but im not sure how cheap it will be...they should be able to get you flanges though.
