Hell yeah. I just got it yesterday and this thing kicks ass. Fast, looks good, sounds good, and now I can run over shit and not have to worry about it. It only had 10 miles when I got it!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/phoenixR34/fr_1.jpg

6-speed, 4WD, electronic locking rear diff, clutch cancel button for starting, 265hp, Fosgate stereo, tow package, factory spray in bedliner.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/phoenixR34/fr3.jpg

Huge BFG off road tires, Bilstein shocks, skid plates all along the bottom, 6500lb tow capacity... which was my main reason for getting it. I'd rather push this, than drive a Toyota.

I got the tow package, which includes the receiver and all the wiring. They also included a hitch with a 2" ball as well.

That really is a good looking truck. Just curious, but what would the sticker be for a normal person?

Last time I was at the dealer and *I think*, it was around $26,000. I got 4WD which jacks the price up. You can get a 2WD Nismo that looks exactly the same for a thousand or two less. Kinda strange though as you can't get the 2WD Nismo with a 6-speed, hence the reason I got 4WD.

Then they have the LE model without the Nismo off road stuff, but it comes with leather, heated seats and a better stereo for more money.. in the high 20s IIRC.

The SE without the Nismo package is dirt cheap, even with a V6.

Brian,

That Spec V I ordered last December, arrived yesterday as well. lol

You forgot to mention the Nismo floor mats...awesome truck, and the exact one I would buy if I was in the market! Nice to not have to swap cars, to tow now! I assume you'll be testing it out to Cali, this weekend?

Brian,

That Spec V I ordered last December, arrived yesterday as well. lol Good thing you weren't still waiting for that.

$26k isn't too bad, but it still seems pricey when you can get a decently equipped Titan for $22-23k. I can see a premium for sportiness and a more compact size though. Not to mention that Frontier is about 3x cooler than a Titan.

BTW, is that thing black?

wgnths
11-30-2006, 02:22 PM
yeah i remember the titans being a little cheaper than frontiers, when i was looking. the new frontiers are very roomy.

And I'll guess the color to be majestic blue.

The Nismo package is what kills the price on the Frontier.

Secondly, you won't go to a dealer and find an equipped Titan with a sticker (MSRP) price less than an equipped Frontier, SE vs. SE. Maybe after rebates, negotiating, invoice price or some other deal. The guy sitting next to me just bought an '06 Titan SE, with very few options and that was 31K.

While Nissan's website isn't representative of what you'd pay, it's fair for the sake of comparison:

Frontier SE 4x4 V6 Base MSRP - $18,950, or 22,800 with all the options I got.

Nismo Frontier 4x4 Base MSRP - $24,250, or 27,700 with the options I got.

Titan SE 4x4 Base MSRP - $25,850, or 33,595 with the same options I got.

Big difference between the base Frontier and the Nismo one. The Nismo package is a lot more, but it adds the off road tires, electronic locking rear diff, bilstein shocks, different springs, skid plates, chrome bumpers, chrome mirrors, fog lights, chrome door handles, bed utili-trac system, bedliner, different wheels, clutch cancel and those sweet stickers on the bed.

-----------------------

It looks black in those first few pictures, but it's actually Majestic Blue. I didn't want white because there are thousands of white pickups on my commute everyday going to construction sites in Maricopa. I went to the dealer to decide on Red vs. Black, then saw the one blue Nismo sitting in the corner.. in the sunlight it looked stunning, WAY better than anything else and hardly anyone has it. It's the same color that comes on the Maxima, Versa, Sentra, Titan etc. Since the cab is smaller on the Frontier, it's not "too much" blue, and the chrome parts really shine and make it look nice in the sun. Still looks rugged like a truck should, but classy enough to take on a date.. not that I go on any. This pic shows it better.

Yeah... my 2x4 SE Titan (with the same options) stickered at 29,200 (with some of the dealer add on crap, it went to 30k+) and the 4x4 adds around 2k plus (on one of the models, it was roughly 3250 more for the 4x4!). The only Titan in the 22k range is a 2x4 XE with non-power windows/locks. So it's definitely cheaper - but I can tow 9500! Not that I will... but still :)

Nice truck... I love blue.

And what fun is a truck if you're not towing something around?

At my favorite gas station in Ahwatukee, 4000lb load.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/phoenixR34/CIMG1973.jpg

Bringing some piece of shit parts car back from Tucson.. 3500lbs.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/phoenixR34/CIMG1971.jpg

Towing the Z, 4800lb total load.. truck looks like it's pulling wheelies.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/phoenixR34/CIMG2016.jpg

So far my best mileage towing was 14mpg (with the RX7), worst at 12.5, towing the Z around.

For reference, my best *ever* towing with the Titan (4100lb load) was 13mpg. Average mpg in the Titan with my 240 is 11.5 - 12.5. So not bad for a 4.0L V6. I get ~18mpg daily, which is 1/2 city/freeway.

instead of making a new thread for another frontier, i figured i'd just add to this one.

I got my 2008 Frontier SE yesterday.. no pictures yet, other than this odometer pic to rub in the fact that i have the newest vehicle on the forum.. until jason gets his Xterra on friday at least.

i want a frontier. whats the tow rating?

oh, and your boy Chef, is low-balling me like a mo-fo on my truck...looks like he's gonna have to find something else.

phoenixZ33
01-16-2008, 01:00 PM
6500lbs.. i don't know how much a typical load weighs, but if you figure a 2500lb car, plus ~400lbs in tools, wheels and other junk, plus a 2,000lb trailer? maybe 5000lbs? it drags my BMW/240SX/Type R around like nothing..

with a 350Z on the back (3300lbs), you can feel the difference. not terrible, but you notice it's there.

how much is he offering you for the Tundra?

wgnths
01-16-2008, 01:24 PM
well, his first offer was $9500...i told him $10,800. He came back with $9888.00 and said he'll take it friday(because he let his car go so cheap). I said no.

KBB is $11,235. Plus the $900 bassani exh i just put on, New pro-comp wheels, tires...and i told him i owe $12k on it, which i do.

he'll have to find something else.

kev
01-16-2008, 01:51 PM
Brady, did you go for the 2wd for weight savings and the extra 200lb towing capacity?

phoenixZ33
01-16-2008, 01:55 PM
I went with 2WD because it's $100/month cheaper. I didn't check the tow capacity, but the towing was so kickass with my Nismo, I figured if the rating was a little less/more, it wouldn't make much of a difference.

You're saying the 2WD has a higher tow capacity than the 4WD? According to Jason, the 4WD has stiffer rear springs, and of course the Nismo has the Bilstein rear shocks.. with the full load hooked up, the truck sat perfectly flat, not all sagged down like a Toyota.

I am also sorta hoping that the 2WD would get better fuel economy as it's probably a little lighter. Of course, the first thing I did was throw on some 4WD tires.. lol.

My best with the Nismo 4x4 was 20mpg, with the average being in the 19mpg range. I was hoping to get over 20 with the 2WD. 20mpg in a heavy 4WD truck is pretty good.. I got 23-24 in the 350Z.

The 6-speed makes all the difference as well in terms of towing.. fuel mileage, not so much believe it or not.

wgnths
01-17-2008, 01:56 PM
did a little research, since i've thought about getting one...2wd tows 6300lbs, 4wd 6100lbs. nismo #'s are the same. i'm also really liking the 08 pathfinder w/ v8 option! tows 7000lbs.

kev
01-17-2008, 02:06 PM
Cheaper is a great reason. I need to go out and start test driving soon.

wgnths
01-17-2008, 03:08 PM
yeah i did some basic calculations. se 2wd vs. 4wd was about $50/mo cheaper, more tow capacity and slightly better gas mileage.

phoenixZ33
01-31-2008, 09:59 AM
honestly, after having towed with my nismo for a year, and now this truck, 4WD is the way to go. apparently the 4WD has stronger leaf springs, which helps a lot.. the 2WD really sags down with a trailer/car hooked up. it still tows fine, but it looks kinda lame all sunk down in the back.

it gets 1-2mpg more than my 4WD did.. although, if I would have left the original tires on it (ie. didn't put the big off road tires on), it would probably be a little better.

here are some pics from flagstaff, taken yesterday.
