Time for some new wheels in the next few weeks.
http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/asa/swap/asa_ar1_blk_ci3_l.jpg The rears have a nice lip.
I was eyeballing a set of Work Emotion CR Kai's but I'm not sure about the colors and it's a pain in the ass to find vendors.

what size were you looking for?
17"s. I just ordered them. Should be here in 3 days. Hopefully I won't have to buy new rear tires :P

looks awesome!!!!
I think we've put maybe 6 miles on the car since I mounted up the new wheels. It looks great, but today I confirmed that the rears effing rub.
I placed my order with the "s2k specialist" at tirerack, who frequents s2ki.com's forum. I gave him the car's info on the springs and tire sizes. He said I'd be fine.
I'll have to speak with him on Monday and let him know he was wrong. I'm debating between the following options:
a) put the stock springs on, see if the car rubs, and maybe keeping wheels
b) returning the wheels, and powder coating the stock rims black
c) return the wheels, and put the stock rims that are currently powdercoated silver
d) option c...and then save up for some work emotions....but you know that won't happen cuz i'm too cheap to buy $2000+ wheels
Right now I'm at about 5% in favor of A, 40% in favor of B, and 10% in favor of C
Thoughts?

hmmm tough one. i really like the wheels, and not a big fan of stockers, powdercoated or otherwise. how much will stock springs raise it? at the same time, black stockers with the car lowered might look good.
Stock springs should raise it about an inch, but even that won't guarantee against rubbing.

then ride it low and do the stockers!

Yeah, stock wheels and keep the springs. S2k's seem to be a nightmare to find wheels for.

Looks good! Agreed that finding wheels for those cars sucks. There's a local guy with a black S2K that has the Work Emotions already - don't know who it is but I've seen the car. Might work to try to buy 'em off of him vs. buying new.

A buddy of mine had an s2k for a little while and had Emotions on it and sold them when he got rid of them... probably to the black one.

I'm no math major, but thats not even close to 100%....
Why not just get a small spacer for the rears? I cant think it would be rubbing bad enough to need more than 5mm or so.

The wheels are too far out, so spacers would only move the rubbing from the edge to a flatter part of the tread.
I just ordered 2 stock sized 245/40/17 rear tires. They should be shorter than the 255/40/17s on the car now. We'll see how it goes.

The car looks good, I like those wheels, I take it fender rolling is out of the question?

Not necessarily ;) The new rear tires came in today, so I hope to get them mounted tomorrow.

Get a floorjack handle and start rolling those fenders!

i used your steel mallet to do some more rolling to mine, the other day.....
245/40/17s took care of the rubbing.
I'll still roll the fenders some day, never know when you got junk in the trunk.

so what size are the wheels?
ASA AR1's from Tirerack
Front 17x7 48mm offset
Rear 17x8 45mm offset
The rear offset is not ideal for putting on wide tires. They're not very expensive and look pretty good though.
Some guy in cali has some 17x11 or 17x10.5s for sale! He probably wants a fortune for them though.
