View Full Version : 1995 Acura Integra GSR...

My girlfriend just picked up a used 1995 Integra GSR with som descent mods already installed on the car....ITR intake manifold, AEM intake, DC Sports exhaust manifold, AEM stage 1 cams, flywheel, crank/alt. pulley, short throw shifter, AEM clutch, RSR exhaust, cheapo springs and a few other things I can't remember...basically all the honda ricer crap one can buy....the good thing is that the previous owner was a Hinda tech at Tempe Honda and seemed to have taken really good care of the car (except the effing paint, its sun faded from bumper to bumper)...
Two questions...
A) What is the estimated whp/torque?
B) Where is a reliable, useful honda tuner in the valley that I can take the car to for maintanence and dyno-tuning?
Any info is useful...I am not big on the Honda/Acura stuff, and don't know ish about them....thanks!
P.S. VTEC scares me...it sounds like the engine is going to EXPLODE!!! Also, the engine has over 140,000 miles on it (which scares me too)
We should both be at an upcoming event running the EVO and the Integra...hope to see you guys there...its been awhile!

I dont know much about Hondas either but I found this.

Seems similar mod wise.
Big list of dyno charts here.

As far as tuning, I really have no idea
I dont like SRD really.
You could talk to Rich, maybe he could tune a Hondata system?
A. Torque = non-existent :P
B. For dyno tuning, goto Locash or Locash racing. He's got a website, google it. For maintenance...DIY, there isn't a lot to do...it's a honda yo.

i've heard good things about locash too. and vtec is weird. my Fit feels like an underpowered, stock wrx with no power until boost hits, or in this case, vtec.
mileage i wouldn't worry about too much on a honda. and from what i hear, tempe honda has the best honda techs in the valley, and the only 4 master certified ones.

VTEC feels like I am breaking something...
I remember the first time I hit VTEC...

Thanks for the advice...I will check out Locash....and I planned on taking it to Rich for some ideas...and 30 minutes on the dyno...it pulls pretty good for such a small displacement engine....as for the milage, even though its a Honda, that amount still comcerns me.....thanks again!

A) What is the estimated whp/torque?
I'd guess whp is in the 165-170ish range depending on a bunch of variables.
B) Where is a reliable, useful honda tuner in the valley that I can take the car to for maintanence and dyno-tuning?
When I had to take my 95 GSR to a shop I used Rick Hall's Auto Doctor near Elliot & Priest in Tempe. They were great, no complaints in the 8 or so years I had the car.
Also, the engine has over 140,000 miles on it (which scares me too)
Mine had 145k on it when I sold it, still ran great. :D
I still have some Koni Yellows and a handful of miscellaneous parts for the car if you're interested.

Sounds like a nice car. For general maintenance, I've had great luck with Hon*Amotive in Tempe. McClintock and Rio Salado I think. I've also sent several people there and they've had great results. As far as tuners, I have no idea - sorry I can't help you more there.
And what people say about torque is right. I really enjoyed my S2000 though - very buttoned down, reliable car that you can tell had some serious thought put into the engineering and design. If you can drive it right, a VTEC car is an experience unlike anything else - hitting an apex perfectly and being in VTEC as you power out produces some of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard in a car, especially when driving right up against the wall after turn 9 at PIR. It's a tight, mechanically precise scream that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end.
Oh and your car's barely broken in with the mileage it has on it. They'll do 300K if maintained well, just make sure you always have a fresh timing belt on it.
