Cusco front and rear diffs showed up...center still on backorder
while waiting:
ordered fresh set of Hawk blues
a little added downforce(APR splitter)
http://www.autoaccessorysupply.com/catalog/APR-CW-806008_b.jpg
finally installing my front tow hook
possibly removing the autopower 4pt and putting the sparco harness bar in.
finally getting my [b]Greddy oil cooler installed and oil temp hooked up.
after that, my 17x9's are suppose to show up next week. need to decide on tires...shaved nt01's in 255/40 or a race compound. not may 255/40 sizes. 245/40 seems easier to get. then getting the flares on and making shit fit.
next weeks order:
Whiteline roll control kit
The Front Roll Center Adjustment Kit from Whiteline is designed to raise front roll-centre geometry by using new special ball-joints, while maintaining original bump-steer by using new tie-rod ends. Changing front suspension geometry by raising roll-center, results in substantial increase to roll resistance and significant reduction of suspension compression of outside front wheel during cornering through improved weight transfer distribution. During cornering, this leads to significantly reduced understeer through reduced front wheel compression, as well as improved steering feel and precision and vehicle stability

Cusco 1 way front, 1.5 rear diffs are here

Cusco tarmac center diff on backorder still(35/65% split)
http://www.xxtuning.com/xxstore/images/CU1200_small.jpg
Featuring high tension chrome molybdenium steel housing and gears the Cusco LSD is up for the task of serious competition. With large oil windows for increased flow and Cusco's original groove cut technology for improved efficiency on the clutch plates, stability and longevity is promoted. ----- The 1.5-way Type RS utilizes coil springs located between the pressure rings to develop initial torque and features full engagement during acceleration and partially under deceleration. The use of coil springs rather than cone plates help promote faster, smoother engagement, along with higher durability

Thank you - I kept waiting for updates on the XB and 240.
Have you found out anything about those flares? I really like the fronts but the rears end too soon. You'll be throwing up a lot of rock on the side of the rear bumper. Oh, you'll need new street wheels when you put them on too :)

Once you get it mounted and test fit the new wheels we can figure out what you can run on there as far as street wheel offsets (if you run an 8.5, maybe dropping down to a different offset will fill things out betta).

Erin,
All your mods will get you in the 107.XX at PIR. Way to turn it up a knotch. You are going to leave me behind eating your dust!!! Who am I going to play tag with now?? I'm gonna have to do something about this. You'll be playing tag with Bits!!! Can't wait to see that thing run at the march event. Very COOL!!!

nice to see you here, patrick!
don't worry, we'll still be playing together. the car will probably be the same for the march event. still waiting on stuff...even after that, we should still be running together. basically, i'll be happy to get back into the 9's with a more predictable/easier to drive car.
i need to work on driver skills before running much quicker.

I hear you on the "working on the driver's" skills. I know I have soo much to learn still. It was only last event that I drove the fastest ever in the car. You really pushed me and made me improve at PIR. I installed a sparco evo seat and can't wait to see how it helps. I ordered a HANS sport w/ sliding teathers. Did you get one yet???

still waiting on the cucso center diff...waa waaaa.
got a set of sedan control arms coming to widen the front track and give me some camber.
goodspeed is having my camber plates cnc'd to make more room for camber adjustment.
they removed the autopower roll-bar and are putting sparco harness bar back in. decided it wasn't worth lugging around 80 or so lbs, for a bolt-in 4pt. and handling seemed to suffer. eventually, i'll have a real cage built when they get their tube bender.
beatrush alum. subframe, rear diff bushings and whiteline roll control kit(tie-rods) are on the way.
work wheels arrived from japan...waiting for them to ship to me, then i'll order 255 r1's.
sold enkeis/reo1r's tuesday
sold cusco zero2e's(finally), yesterday.
sold perrin sway/endlinks.

yeah, they did an alignment on it next door and were testing it out. btw, the body shop next door has probably the best snap-on alignment rack, money can buy.

yes i did! i even posted in it, the other day...
and speaking of. the body shop next to goodspeed may be doing almost the same thing to mine.
they looked over the flares, said they could do them for sure but mentioned they could also cut out the rear panel, move it out, weld in some steel and make flares. would be similiar to the sedan setup. then i could just add sedan front fenders and bumper and re-paint the car.

Nice - besides the diffs, what else do you have sitting around that you haven't installed? What's the next mod ordering list?
I'd do the sedan fenders and then those flares on top of them. Follow Brady's monster tire philosophy - 275's.

Purchased a complete v.8 motor today...should be here in a few weeks.
For those that don't know, the v.8 is the sti motor used in japan. it's a 2.0L still, but semi-closed deck(like the U.S. 2.5L) It also has avcs, which we'll probably be using.
The shop I ordered it from is also interested in making me a deal on their new gt30/35 setup(not turbo or wg), if we add decals to the car.
This motor will also be a good foundation for a future full build, when money allows.
Body shop will be taking a look at the car soon with the flares and new wheel/tire combo to decide what and how we'll do it.

Update: while we're waiting for the motor to come, there's a chance the company has a v.8 spec c motor coming. if they have one, i'm getting it hopefully. spec c has bigger, better flowing heads and cams and a very naughty redline.
Did I mention that my Cusco center diff FINALLY arrived! Those will all go in as soon as the motor is here.
And I also realized my act clutch isn't going to cut it with the new power, or bigger power to come later. So this is replacing it:

haven't been around much, kinda taking the summer off as the car is getting work done. so, here's an update as of today...
all 3 cusco diffs are in and tested. i have a complete jdm spec c s202 motor that should finally be arriving in 2 weeks. basically the s202 is the best 2.0 avail in japan. same as the spec but hand assembled with a more aggressive tune. rated at 315hp, 285lb ft at the crank.
we'll probably put the complete motor in with the stock turbo(garrett gt35 twinscroll still isn't released), reverse the manifold, remove the a/c and call it a day. once the turbo comes, then a kit will be built.
after the motor is in, it's off to the body shop for the flare install.
Max Power

Kick ass motor - good idea about getting her ready for the turbo swap. Hell, it might be worth seeing if a place like FP or someone (Full Race might know) can upgrade the wheels/housings on that VF to get a little more flow. Then when the 35r TS comes out (I have mine :p) you'll be set to transfer that kit to somebody/something else.

this 2.0L was only offered in japan, in their s202 sti. the s202 was a very limited, hand-built special edition. compared to my 2.0L, it has bigger cams, big port heads, special ecu, stronger internals, no tgv's, sti manifold and a higher(8500rpm) redline. a much different animal.
not worried about smog, the car will be a track car only but i should still be able to pass emisions.

Subaru's dont really use EGR systems, which is a big issue with alot of JDM motor swaps in other makes.

I noticed the oil in the catch can looks funny, so im gonna inspect it better tomorrow. if its mixed with coolant, then it looks like i may have a blown headgasket. the motor did have some dried up coolant on it, when we got it.

So the wagon got some new legs today...
Tein hooked us up with their new Super Racing Coilover. The thing I like about these, is that Teins been developing them on time attack cars here in the states.
Current spring rates are 671/504, up from 500/400 I had before. I can go up another 400lbs with the current valving.
http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-22296486597181_2032_367758452
Description:
Developed from actual competition, TEIN was able to create a fully adjustable damper that can be easily tuned for any track and weather conditions. Super Racing Dampers utilize a full-length adjustment system to allow shock length and spring pre-load to be adjusted independently. Separate 16 - way adjustments for compression and rebound damping enable the user to fine tune for any situation. TEIN has incorporated both camber and caster adjustment into the front pillow ball upper mounts for strut type vehicles. External reservoirs on SA type dampers allow for added oil capacity. Spring rates and shock valving were derived from many years of motorsports support, to provide the ultimate damper for competition. Designed and tested for circuit use by advanced and professional drivers who are seeking complete damper tuning capability.
Additional Features
• Steel Construction
• Mono Tube internal construction
• Inverted design for strut type front and rear
• Ride Height adjustable via threaded body and spring seats
• 16 × 16 way adjustable dampers, compression and rebound separately adjustable
• Pillow ball upper mounts for increased steering feel
• Upper and lower camber adjustment on front for strut type vehicles
• Caster adjustment on front for strut type vehicles
• Dual EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) compatible
• Powder coated brackets with Teflon coated shock body for heavy duty rust prevention
Contents of Damper Kit:
Adjustable Shock Absorber × 4 Bump Rubber × 4
Main Spring × 4 Hook Spanner × 2
Some applications include helper springs Dust Cover × 4
Pillow ball Upper Mount × 4 Instruction Manual × 1

Also taking the interior out to remove the sound deadening and some interior bits that aren't necessary. Removing/cutting unnecessary brackets, maybe door panels and center console. Then removing all the heavy undercoating from below the car, which looks like it will be a major pita.

Well, the CF hatch has no holes to re-mount the factory spoiler. So, I figured instead of installing the factory one and making a gurney, mine as well install a real one with a better shape.
Putting the stock glass in it. I was going to have one made, and i may still do it down the road. I can't run plexiglass in Super Lap or Redline time attacks, in my class.

We already planned it out. Its the same basic cage he did in tage's civic, with an added x brace in back and a x door bar on the drivers side. it's as simple as you can get, with some added safety. i didn't want a bunch of bars for added weight etc.
this door bar(from jeremys new m3 race car), only on the drivers side:

Car left today for the cage. We took quite a bit of weight out of it that won't go back in. Gutted the dash of the airbag, heater core and controls which was hefty. Took out that insulation crap that goes from the dash down, various unused brackets, some wiring etc.
Once it's back, i'll remove the sound deadening from the floors and we're gonna get rid of the whole ignition assembly for a simple panel setup.

single tial wastegate. even though it's a twin-scroll setup, we're going for simplicity and less weight.

Nice - be sure to run the separator for the wastegate pulses as far as possible. You don't want those exhaust streams mixing and lose out on the TS goodness!

latest updates...
we removed the rear subframe the other day and took out the gas tank(heavy btw). we have a 12 gallon rci fuel cell to replace it, just figuring out exactly where we want to mount it.
also installed deutschworks(sp) new 1000cc suby injectors.
and i removed all that sound deadening and started scraping that nasty insulation from the bottom of the car. not fun or easy.
