First time ever behind the wheel of a 350Z. It was a good first track day with the car. During competition I was about 1.5 seconds behind Brady. (43.562 v/s 45.086). During Time Only's I closed the gap to within 1.4 seconds (43.200 v/s 44.654). We both went faster in TO's and that was on a corded right rear.

Positives: I have a decent comfort level with the 350Z. It's very forgiving if you are slow to counter oversteer. I still managed a spin  The car brakes very well, even with all of its heft. Lots of torque...I love not having to shift into first on SLOW corners. I need to work on being smooth and driving the right line.

Negatives: Not as strong in transitions as my S2000. At times the heaviness of the car shows itself. It can be hard to get it to turn at times. I'm struggling with proper gas pedal modulation to get it to turn the right amount. I need to not pussyfoot it while being smooth.

I'm pretty excited and think I'll have a blast driving this car as we prepare for nationals next month!

That's awesome! The 350z is an exceptional car, but it does have it's quirks like every other car... (mainly weight)

The traction control on the Z totally sucks ass. It won't stay off. Every time you start the car you have to turn it off. I forgot to turn it off one time and it was just awful. It's unreal how slow it makes the car. People thought I broke the car...it was that slow :(

The Z isn't *that* heavy - in stock class Solo2 trim it's in the neighborhood of 3000-3050lbs. The steering is very slow, the springs are soft and the seating position in the car makes it feel big and heavy. It's not nearly as nimble as an S2000 though, that's for sure.

Either way, kevin and I are hitting a lot of events in the next month before Nationals. Two this weekend (Kevin just on Sunday), Vegas on the 20th, Tucson on the 28th and I'm trying to find something for the 4th weekend. There's an event on the 11th, but I'm planning on taking a weekend to go fishing or something as I haven't *not driven* on a weekend since May. Kevin's pretty close to that as well.

Kevin's closing the gap and I *hope* we'll both be somewhat competitive in Topeka. Phoenix has several national champions and many more who have had bad luck, otherwise would be as well. It's a great place to measure ourselves up against the best.

Anyways, the car felt good with the new alignment. We ran on some pretty old tires so it's only gonna get better from here - wait till you see the results when we hit Vegas in two weeks. The clutch is my only concern as I felt it falling off last weekend after the 10th run or so... we'll have to be easy on it for the next few events. The Hawk HP+ pads are awesome.. the rotors were purple after a few runs.

The TCS is a pain in the ass. Even after driving the car for a year, I forget to turn it off sometimes. I'm gonna make a big label on the dash so we both remember, it really ruins a run if you leave it on.

Well that's about it.

Welcome to the forum Brady! I LOVE the 350z, but it does feel kinda heavy, but anywho. Good luck with the racing!
