Yeah forgot about that... but it will be more fun than driving 5 hours to go and have the possibility of wearing through a tire and getting stuck in hickville NewMexico, and risking getting rapped by weird transient mexicans that are actually drug runners and placed cocaine in your rectal cavity while you were asleep from the daterape drugg they gave you. They would then proceed to take your wallet and write down your address so they can come and take back their stash forcfully. you don't want that do you?

I'll actually be racing at Speedworld friday night. Good luck! Just remember to not make the same mistake I did at Speedworld last weekend. Remember to tighten all hose clamps on your FMIC. I neglected to check mine, tried running it for the first time with the new setup, and blew my charge pipe clamp right off on the first pass! Then I was stuck there thinking I blew my motor, didnt have any tools with me and didnt even think to check to see if I had blown any pipes off. Needless to say I had to get a tow home, but all it better now so I'm going out to try it again. This time I'm rolling off the line then punching it just to get a MPH, just incase anything else decides to take a crap.

LOL, I've done that a total of 3 times now... Hopefully they will hold, I DO need better clamps!

Well, I'm going to have to go another weekend... my clutch is toast and I'm hoping that it will hold up enough to get the car retuned, let alone abusing it on the strip. So Sorry to get your hopes up... maybe I can go next weekend (if I can get the 6speed in by then)

Changed my mind... the clutch held fine on the dyno and I'm willing to abuse it on the strip again... PLUS my (soon to be) Supra will be there and we will see how it runs.

Close... Well, considering that I had no clutch to start with I didn't do too bad. The first run I decided to do a launch and then brake pretty hard at the end of the run (I had NO IDEA how fast the car would run... and didn't want to get kicked off the first run) and managed to pull a 18.3 @ 35mph... and the funny part is that I still beat the Mustang I was racing, which ran a 18.6 and going balls to the wall. The next couple of runs were LOW 14's Because my clutch wouldn't grab on the launch... 2.6-2.8 60' times :( But then my last run was a 13.92 @ 101mph. With a horrible 60' that isn't too shabby. As soon as I have the 6 speed in I'm going back.

Not too shabby! I ending up having the same luck yet again at Speedworld! I first tried just leaving the line like at a stop light, so I left with a 2.6 60ft and ending up running a 13.8 @ 108. The next run I figured since the charge pipe held I would launch a tad harder, so I did a 2.3 60ft and ran a 13.3 @ 109 and some change. So being some what disappointed that my mph isnt up there where I want it, alot having to do with leaving the line not spinning my tires and getting into boost. I tried launching the SR55 like I did my stock VF39, sure enough blew the charge pipe again! That run, with that launch would have given me my low 12 sec pass. I used to pull 1.6 60fts all day with the stock turbo, and was running a 12.7-.12.8 @ 103-106mph. Well now I have a bigger piece of silicone charge pipe coupler, and I'm using these massive 1 in wide clamps to hold it on. The original piece I got with the APS DR725 FMIC was too short, resulting in not enough hose for the clamps to hold on to. If this doesnt hold, I'm gonna go crazy.

Nice... I HATE putting the hoses back on the I/C piping... I should have gone to Speedworld and hung with you... There was nobody at Firebird, and all the mustangs were SLOOOOOWWWW

I'm going out to Speedworld again, not this weekend but next. I'll post and remind you of when I'm going. I seriously doubt this new hose clamp will blow, I've tested it on the street and its held great. Now the only problem is getting out of first gear fast enough. 1st is like non existant on a hard launch, its done in less than a second.

A GOOD driver should be pulling 1.6s all night long... but since I have no clutch to hold the lowend torque of my car they were a sec slower... not that I can run a 1.6 or anything.

i would think 1.8's would be pretty impressive at firebird, considering the lack of prep they do on track.
AZ2004STi
08-23-2005, 04:21 PM
I used to cut 1.6's consistantly whether that be at Speedworld or Firebird. I ran 12.8's @ 103.whatever at Firebird, and 12.7's @ 105.whatever at Speedworld. AWD doesnt need prep to launch or run at either track. Now my wifes mustang, thats a whole other ball game. She doesnt like Firebird at all, she can launch fine, but they dont prep all the way down the track. Usually about 1/8 mile she starts to get tire shake and the ass end gets light. Speedworld has been good though for her, and thats where she is most comfortable.
