9/4 Speed Freaks at Tucson(Old)

anybody going? it's a Sunday night. Note that Monday is a holiday.

this event is literally more balls to the wall. track is a short oval (3/8 mile?) with a wall all the way around.

step up and get smoked by Brady in the "Spectacular Drags", a one lap race from a standing start. this is the only time the word "drag" can be correctly followed by the word "race". otherwise, it should always be followed by "queen". straight lines are for public transportation.

My tranny is going in that next week :( I might not even be able to drive out there, it slips like crazy on the freeway in 5th gear let alone every other gear :shock:

i have a feeling he'll wuss out completely this time, since he's seen the black sunshine subaru (not related to a brown eye) fender to fender on his inside line (at which point i began sliding up track in more of a fender to bumper attack). might be best to "soften" rear sway bar, if possible.

smack talk for this event will be surprisingly easy, as he's out of station all week.

last time, it was $10 per person, whether or not you were racing. the auto-x is definitely worth making a run or two (if they have it), but the "spectacular drags" are a bit sketchy.

only about a dozen cars showed up, but it was still a good time. i probably had the fastest car, but i just got smoked all over.

it started out to be a suck-ass night, since everybody decided to stay home. plus, i got all the way down there and realized i forgot my helmet. no worries, though. everybody there was very friendly, and helmets are optional at the Sunday Speed Freaks! screw the lawyers!

i got my ass handed to me on the very first "Spectacular Drag" race, waited for another 20 minutes, did my gymkhana runs while once again losing my ass, and then we came home.
