Hell one night there was a supercharged vett and all he could muster was a mid 12!! Lightly modded SRT-4's run high 14's-low 15's. A modded Mach 1 w/ a high 14. Maybe it's a slow track, or Phoenix is full of crappy drivers?

They don't prep the track very well for the amatuer nights, so it alway seems to be kind of slick.
Also, during the summer time, track temps can be quite high.
I have never been there on Friday nights, but maybe those MuscleCarGuys don't have as much of a problem.

Friday's used to be pretty awful (this was when there was just Friday night drags so everybody was there). The lines were outrageous and you'd get maybe 3 runs in all night (as in from open to close). Track prep was ass too... unless there was some sort of event coming up or had just happened.
I ran pretty well there but with the 1100 ft elevation and crappy temp/prep my runs were a little slower than they should have been. But there were a lot of people who were running WAY slower than they should have (driver suckiness I presume). That was back in my rwd days; with awd I never went cause I was never really comfortable with my launch :)
Back on topic - your XT is bad assed. Love those wheels.

Fireturd is really good about pwnz0ring fast cars.
I have seen WRXs, Evos, Supras, NSXs, SRT-4s even alll in the 15s to 16s...

Nice...how much whp does your wagon put down? Before the catback and pulley and some other goodies it was 230AWHP and 240AWTQ so maybe, just maybe 240whp and 250wtq. Next week it should be from what I'm told around 300whp or more, but for now 300whp will be just fine.

Turbos, umm, get better gas mileage...Well that's what sucked is there were 2 GT's lightly used(red and a blue one) for the same price but she just wanted a "mommy" car. It took everything in my body not to get the red one and leave my poor xt behind. Good thing we got the hell outa there.

How does it drive now?Well, Robert was not able to do the full alignment because of the lack of new wheels and tires. But it "still" handles and feels way better than it ever did. Not sure if it was due to the stock steering rack bushings or what, but there was always a lot of play in the wheel on the freeway. Now it feels really good! :D Now, I'm off to get those wheels and tires takin care of so prolly in a bout a week we'll have a proper alignment done to boot. 8)

my forester wishes it was that cool.......In due time, I'm sure it will be...in due time. 8) You could just sell your rex, swap the turbo and all the other goodies to the forester, take that AP protune and get stuff done! Why fight it? It's a 2.5 itching to be unleashed and swap the suspension from your rex ftw as well? Do eeeeeeeeet!

Ok, so here is the latest update. We've got a bored out 2.5 STI block to 2.7 Liters now. There will be lightened and balanced JE Pistons going in and it should be a tranny snapping torque beast next week if all goes well. After break in, the goal is to get a nice hearty tune but it will max out that VF30 so one day it will be upgraded with something a little larger but still streetable.
Here are some pics of the build.

Yes, it took a few moist toweletts but we got the fecis removed in short order. Too bad it wasn't a big hard turd. We could have ground it down to make some new cams! Turd cams FTW!!!

Here is how the pistons look, it's really kind of a shock because sure you'll typically see carbon build up but this is nasty! The pistons look like old ashtrays.

Hmmm well Robert has some fixings to keep the rear end from going further south so it should hold well for now. If lucky, the mighty RA tranny should hold up a little longer but if it grenades again, then the logical choice would be PPG's. Time will tell....

Welp, she's tuned and on the streets running really good again!
So here it is, and I'm way happy with this and Rich put a lot of time into the tune as we had some boost control issues. He did a few tweaks here and there and got it running real nice. Oh and keep in mind it was 96-98F in there.
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m201/vsbxt/HPIM1185.jpg
And take a look at the boost curve, or should I say consistant boost across redline w/out so much curve.
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m201/vsbxt/HPIM1186.jpg
The drivability of this car is now amazing! No fumbling, stumbling, or jerking and it just drives clean. The power feels silky on the highway and violent from a stop. Called Robert right away tonight to let him know how she runs now and how this motor spools this turbo and holds it. Talked to Rich a little bit about other supporting mods for this turbo and a CAI, a 3'' midpipe, w/ possibly a nice header would really bring things to life in the near future. I'm curious what this would do on a dynojet now, we were thinking maybe 320ish?
Here is an updated mod list:
Engine management: Ecutek tune by Dynocomp on a dynodynamics, 307.9whp and 298wtq at the wheels on 91piss.
Engine:F.A.T 2.7L Shortblock w/ JE pistons(ceramic coated) ACL bearings, Total seal Rings,(some brand of) gold magnetic oil drain plug, F.A.T oil cooler mod, FP18G ceramic coated, PE850's injectors, Perrin shortram, Ebay turbo inlet, B&B Downpipe/Upipe, FAT catback, FAT TGV deletes, custom fmic and PWR couplers w/ custom coolant overflow, HKS SSQ BOV, Walbro fp, Blingy weapon R catch can, Lineage ground wires, NGK one step colder plugs, Blingy AP oil cap, relocated coolant lines from intake manifold(an FAT mod), and Carbon fiber alt/belt cover, Superpro polly steering rack bushings, and Odyssey lightweight battery.
Tranny: RA tranny swap, JDM STI clutch and flywheel, AP ss clutch line, Kartboy subframe poly bushings, Kartboy poly shifter bushings, AP short shifter, and larger rear diff to go w/ tranny(R180?)
Suspension: Ver.7 struts w/ H&R springs, F&R strut bars, Ver.7 STI rear sway w/ Kartboy endlinks, Firestone ghetto yet effective laser alignment. STI rear sub frame brace with poly bushings.
Brakes: "old school" JDM suby 4 pots in the front, F&R Stoptech Cross drilled rotors, Goodridge SS lines, Motul fluid
Wheels: 18'' Custom powder coated Ronal "ferris" w/ Kumho's, and lightweight JDM lugnuts.
I.C.E. Pioneer headunit, Pioneer 6x9's in rear doors, Kenwood Excelons 6.5's in the front, Infinity Bass-Link and Rockford 500X amp. Platinum prestige pager alarm system.
Interior: Autometer boost gauge, JDM blue squash air freshner

A green would really wake that thing up :)
Nice smooth curve. Did Richard have any idea why it's taking till 4500 rpm to make peak torque? I would assume a 2.7 and an 18g would make peak torque and peak boost in the 3k range. Either way must be fun.

Either way must be fun.Well we really had some boost issues w/ this turbo, so while it spooled really really fast pre-tune it was nice just to have consistant boost at the end of the tune. We started around 4pm and finished about 8pm to give you an idea of what kind of problems we were having. It get's to 4K rather quickly I'd say since the RA tranny has sort of low gearing so lag is not too much of a worry. :)

That's pretty weird... I think Erin has some boost control issues with his 18g too... wonder if there's some sort of wastegate mismatch or wheel mismatch going on.
Either way, I say you should be able to spool a 20g or even a Green faster with that honkin 2.7 pumpin tons of air. :)

07-10-2007, 10:10 PM
Not sure if it's the stock solenoid or not but I don't think it is.... Yeah the wg psi was seeing 16lbs at times so there could be a mismatch in that department. I'm thinking I'm done now, w/ power mods for a while so any other changes will be a ways out I hope. Everything else from now on will be for general maintenance and cosmetic. Goals are bling like a Koyo radiator, a shroude, some hood struts, some seats, shift knob that fits, redo the stereo system w/ something more tastelful. A respray would be awesome w/ some body upgrades from Japanparts.com etc. It's been neglected in the syle department for a long time LOL! :D

Yeah, I was asking RIch about how common it is w/ the FP turbos and he did mention he's had some issues in the past. He was real determined to get past it though. I wonder what an EBC would do to help things out... Oh, and yes, it's awesome have the FXT running great for a change! Not much else left to break now *knocks on wood*!
